March - May 2021
Methods:
Utilized Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) methods to develop
Utilized the Stanford Bioengineering Design Process to design, prototype, and test the medical device.
Research Responsibilities:
Designed and developed the battery-powered electrical circuit with four infrared diode lasers;
Ensured the product was safe (e.g., would not overheat and burn the patients’ skin) and aligned with FDA guidelines
Determined the patentability of the product
Researched and learned about light therapy to create the new device.
Presented product along with a formal written report and PowerPoint presentation
Managed a limited budget
Brainstormed various solutions
Created low-fi prototypes
Developped novel testing methods
Created a final-fully functionning prototype
This project was made as part of WPI's BME 3300: Biomedical Engineering Design course.
Taught by Professors Solomon Mensah, PhD, and Funmi Ayobami, PhD.
